The common law admission test is a national level entrance exam conducted for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law courses offered by 22 national law universities. Other colleges also accept CLAT score for admission in law courses. Till 2018, the exam was conducted by NLUs on a rotational basis. However, from 2019 onwards it is being conducted by a permanent body formed by the universities, i.e. The Consortium of NLUs. The consortium has it’s headquartered at NLSIU Bangalore. Till 2018 the exam was held online now the exam will be held offline.
ELIGIBILITY
1. Candidates who have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination for national or state board of education.
2. They should have obtained a minimum 45% marks if belonging to General/ Other Backward Class (OBC) / Specially-abled categories and 40% marks if belonging to Scheduled Class (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.
3. There is no age limit to apply CLAT 2020 as the Bar Council of India (BCI) as removed the upper or lower age limit criteria for admissions to law courses.

Online application
The CLAT consortium opens the application window in online mode on the official website. Candidates seeking admissions through CLAT exam have to apply before the last date of application after completing each step including, registration, filling up the form, uploading documents and fee payment.
Issuing of admit card
The candidates who have successfully filled and submitted the application form of CLAT will be issued admit card to appear for the examination.
Appearing for the exam
Candidates have to appear for the entrance exam at the allotted test centres of CLAT. They should their admit card and a valid photo ID proof with them.
Declaration of results
The consortium will announce results of CLAT on the official website along with a provisional merit list for each NLU.
Admission process
The counselling process of CLAT will begin in online mode with provisional seat allotment on the basis of the first merit list. The candidates have to confirm their seat after document verification and payment of counselling-cum-admission fee.
SYLLABUS
There are total 150 questions, every correct answer will award candidate one mark and candidate will lose 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Duration of the exam is 120 minute.
English language
This section comprises of reading comprehension, sentence correction, vocabulary and grammar. The ratio of the question varies and there is no fix pattern as to how many questions can come from a particular topic.

Current affairs including General Knowledge
This section comprises of current affairs and static GK. Current affairs of last one year shall be asked whereas static Gk of class 10th level can be asked. The ratio of question from both the topic is not fixed.

Logical Reasoning
This section comprises of questions which will test your logical abilities like para- jumbles, para-phrasing, sequence and series, questions based on directions etc.

Legal Reasoning
In this section legal mindset is tested. This section comprises of question based on legal comprehension i.e. there will be passage related to any static or current legal issue followed by 5-6 questions.

Quantitative Techniques
In this section, the candidate’s knowledge of elementary mathematics is tested. Questions are framed from topics such as ratio proportion, speed time and distance, geometry etc.
